Residential support worker, Higham Hill
We are a private organisation that provides residential care for ‘Looked after Children’ located in London. We are currently looking to recruit Residential Support Workers and Senior Residential Support Workers to join our experienced staff teams. We have vacancies for full time roles. We have one four bedded homes, situation in Chingford.
Successful applicants will need to have a background in directly looking after vulnerable young people with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties,
1 - To Work directly with the young people; both individually and within groups to ensure that all physical, emotional, psychological, educational, recreational and social needs are met
2 - To Communicate positively with the young people; talk with, listen and respond positively to what young people are saying
3 - Work in partnership with other professionals; involve the young people, their families and significant others in any decisions made regarding their care.
4 - Maintain the individual rights of the children and young people, including the rights to privacy and dignity.
5 - Recording the Information; to Prepare accurate and concise records, letters and reports relating to the young people in our care. Complete all daily administrative duties such as daily confidential log, daily diary sheets, placement, educational, recreational and activity plans and any other required paperwork.
6 - Work as part of a staff team, communicating and consulting with others as necessary in the course of your duties.
7 - Maintain a comfortable, caring, and safe atmosphere in which growth and independence are fostered by the maintenance of a supportive and positive role model.
Applicant requirements :
Must be over 21 years old.
Qualified to Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent OR willing to work towards.
A passion and commitment towards working with children and young people
Being Friendly and supportive, ability to empathise with a non-judgemental approach.
Being flexible and able to cope with stressful situations
Work well as part of a team and be able to accept direction and guidance
Sensitivity to people of different backgrounds and be able to communicate well
Managing challenging behaviour, helping to develop self-control techniques
Have the flexibility and willingness to work shift patterns which includes weekends and sleeping in duties.
Competitive annual salary which will be dependent on experience and qualifications – sleeping in rates are 40.60 per night

Main Purpose of the Job:
To ensure that the Home’s policies and procedures are adhered to and that resources are managed effectively.
To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints.
To liaise with Local Authorities, School, Health and other professionals to achieve best outcomes for young people.

Duties and Responsibilities:
To meet the needs of children through:
Ensuring that each young person has a plan which reflects his / her care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs and that this plan is regularly reviewed.
Allocating a Key Worker for each young person with the principal responsibility of implementing the childcare plan.
Establishing and monitoring high quality standards of care in line with Care Standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose and developing quality assurance measures to ensure these standards are maintained.
Developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive.
Taking responsibility for progressing any complaints or child protection concerns
Working in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
Attending and contributing to child care planning and review meetings as appropriate.
To develop a confident and competent staff team through:
Involvement in the recruitment and retention of staff
Developing a management style which balances the need to exercise control and give direction with the need to offer staff the opportunity to contribute to decision making.
Ensuring that all new staff receive a proper induction to the Home in line with company policy.
Ensuring that each member of staff has a supervision contract and receives supervision in line with National Minimum Standards.
Ensuring that each member of staff has a personal development plan through the Staff Appraisal Programme.
Establishing a programme of senior staff and team meetings to facilitate communication and provide opportunities for consultation and staff development.
Attending to issues of staff motivation and morale
Addressing issues in relation to conduct and competence of staff.
Ensuring adherence to company policy in relation to probationary periods.
Promoting personal and professional development through the appropriate delegation of duties and responsibilities.
To develop systems which ensure the effective allocation of resources through:
Ensuring adequate staffing levels that meet the needs of the Home
Ensuring that budgets are managed effectively and the use of finances is properly monitored.
Ensuring that company vehicles are clean and regularly maintained.
Monitoring closely the fabric of the building (including fixtures, amenities and grounds) and taking remedial action where necessary.
To promote the efficient and effective operation of the Home through:
Developing in consultation with young people and staff routines in relation to all aspects of child care.
Clarifying expectations in relation to maintaining the Home in a clean and orderly condition.
Creating rotas which fit best with children’s needs and which allow proper handovers between shifts.
Ensuring that there are appropriate and adequate reporting and recording system in place to comply with National Minimum Standards.
NVQ4 /QCF Residential Care or equivalent and Management qualification is essential
Childcare legislation and Safeguarding knowledge
Understanding needs of BESD Children
Ability to manage challenging behaviour
2 years recent experience working with children in a residential care setting
At least 1 year at senior level in residential

Hospital Social Worker, London
About the role
You will join an innovative and well-run Acute Hospital team based in North London.
You will support complex discharges that require your specialist social work skills to facilitate safe and timely discharges from the acute setting back to the community.
Your role will be key to ensuring that the hospital team can respond to increasing demands with the continued delivery of a high quality service promoting choice and independence. You will ensure the timely completion of quality assessments and reviews of discharged patients.
This will be a rolling contract extended every 3 months.

Reception Teacher, Haringey
Athona Education are working exclusively with a 3 form entry school in Haringey, North-East London, to help them with the recruitment of a Reception Teacher to start in January 2019.
The school:
This Catholic school, at the heart of the local community, has gone through a number of changes over the past few years, expanding from two to three form entry and more recently appointing a new Headteacher.
This makes it a very exciting time to be at the school.

The role:
The school are seeking a Reception teacher to take over a class from an established member of the team who will be going on maternity leave.
You will be working closely withe the Reception team and will have a small team of classroom assistants in your class full time, including one full time assistant who is focussed on a SEND child.
The team work closely together with planning and assessment etc and plan together on a weekly basis.
You will have the whole remit of a full time teacher, including, planning, marking, assessment, parent consultations etc.
The school are only able to consider candidates who have early years experience in a school. Some children are beginners to English, so an excellent knowledge of phonics is essential.
You:
