Job Summary:
Reporting to the Train Operating Company (TOC) Business Intelligence (BI) Team Leader in the Business Intelligence domain, the role is responsible for the reporting needs for the internal and external customer by utilizing the business standard BI toolset. As an analyst role, the role requires excellent analytical skills and the ability to derive measures and gain insight from large datasets to quickly identify trends and opportunities to maximize business value.
Whilst ensuring the customer has the correct data at the right time, the Business Intelligence analyst must also identify efficiencies and opportunities to improve the data retrieval and reporting interfaces on an ongoing process.
As a customer facing role, the post holder will need to attend customer service review meetings and lead the reporting of company's performance as well as recording and administrating actions arising from customer interactions.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Define, document and deliver technical solutions to minimize the manual reporting needs of the team.
* Head small internal projects or meetings, to develop solutions for use by the team, and also to find out the root causes of service failures and develop other reporting for customers.
* The candidate needs to have the ability to develop innovative cutting edge BI analytics that have real world import.
* Actively produce high quality analytics using BI reporting from the company toolsets.
* Take initiative in coming up with suggestions and proposals to the team regarding process changes and improvements, and to take charge in implementing these. It is important that they are able to appreciate the strategic direction of the wider BI and Service organisation, and able to direct their work accordingly.
* Responsible for the delivery of required existing Legacy reporting on a period by period basis.
* Maintains direct communication with external customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction and query resolution.
* Responsible for supporting the TOC BI Team leader with customer and departmental operations.
* Coordinate actions derived from the various TOC Service Review Meetings and progress actions.
* Remains up to date with latest enhancements and releases in the BI industry.
* Performs requirements gathering to further promote the use of BI across internal and external customers.
* File and Distribute ATOC (Association of TOCs) and TOC communications: Service outages, Settlements, Bulletins, Method Statements etc.
* Managing all aspects of small project variations; inc. developing and agreeing scope, determining cost, identifying and managing resources, assessing timeframes, reporting progress and closing.
* Identify actions to reduce costs associated with services, systems, assets or maintenance.
* Share, gather and assemble data from various departments inc. Service & Maintenance, Bids & Proposals, Workshop, Production Sustaining Engineering, Engineering, Field Operations, and Helpdesk System Engineering etc. relating to obligations to the TOC Contracts.
* In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the supervisor/manager from time to time, as may be reasonably required of them.

* Educated to Degree level in a technical discipline.
* Proven experience of BI tools, SQL and programming languages.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
Essential:
* Proven experience in designing and developing reporting and analytics using the Microsoft Business Intelligence suite, including PowerBI or another industry leading BI toolset.
* Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office.
* Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
* An understanding of database methodologies and how to query them.
* Ability to visualize data to allow simple interpretation of results.
Desirable:
* Proven experience of delivering full lifecycle BI reporting project within an organization.
