The Firm
A friendly High Street firm in Lewisham, South East London, established for ten years and serving the local and wider area. This full-service practice deals with family, crime, housing, community care, elderly client services, and general private client as well as public law. The firm is now looking for a solicitor or experienced legal executive to join the Chambers- recommended housing team which has represented clients in a number of leading cases. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious lawyer with a commitment to representing the more vulnerable members of society who is looking to advance his or her career in this rewarding and challenging area of law.
The Role
The housing team is regularly instructed in a wide range of matters, representing publicly-funded tenants against local authorities and housing associations; the homeless and those in adverse possession. Matters undertaken also include disrepair, unlawful eviction, repossession, and the team appears regularly in applications for judicial review. The team also advises on applicants for housing who fall outside the provisions of the Housing Act 1996, (for instance due to immigration status) liaising with the community care and public law teams.
The Candidate
You will be a solicitor of 1 – 3 years’ PQE or a similarly experienced legal executive;
The firm is looking for someone with a real team ethos who can liaise with other departments and has exceptional communication skills;
You should be committed to representing vulnerable members of society;
Fluency in a second language would be useful, although it is not esential:
You will have a robust, determined and problem-solving approach.

The Role
You will be joining the very busy litigation department and will be taking on a challenging caseload of general civil and commercial litigation, assisting the Legal 500 recommended professional negligence team and also working with the banking dispute team.
The Candidate

You should have a straight-talking, pragmatic approach to advising clients, and be a strong strategic thinker, possessing a solid background in dispute resolution matters with a robust approach to litigation and confident, compelling advocacy skills;
Be 4+ years’ PQE in a similar role, preferably within a City firm or a heavyweight regional practice, ideally a Legal 500;
Have excellent communication skills, with colleagues and clients alike;
Be a good time manager, able to prioritise the demands of a busy caseload.

Your new role
As the Commercial Finance Director you will work closely with the Business Development teams overseeing all commercial elements throughout a variety of BID processes.
